The Second Malformation of “G” is a layered assemblage of footage captured by the artist, interwoven with found footage and gameplay sequences from Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil Requiem. It traces the narrative arc of a singular architectural entity—The Old School—in its current state and its spectral past, placing these realities in tension with the dark, confined settings of the two Resident Evil games.
The work explores the complex interplay between the desire for abandonment and the condition of being abandoned, a tension that permeates both the physical space of the buildings past and the virtual spaces of the gameplay. By splicing together these disparate yet resonant worlds, the video becomes an observation on decay, memory, and the compulsive desire to both flee and inhabit these ruins.
The work holds a pivotal place within the exhibition, presented alongside other works that navigate the same thematic terrain—the restless, aching desire for abandonment.
