would i still be your lover? if it all went wrong (and its variations)
dimensions unknown lorry curtain 2024/5
An in-situ drapery piece, who’s transient nature rejects exact replication. Always in flux, never to remain fixed.
This work, the subject of Evans’ masters thesis ‘The space between us’, is in essence an exploration of desires risk. The work serves as both a physical and conceptual attempt to realise that which she desires, through material transformation and poetic introspection. The piece personifies the object of desire, aka the side of a lorry, and delves into the artist's relationship with her materials, treating them as lovers who, once consumed, are left behind. The work unfolds as a moment in time - its impermanent nature a mirror to the desire she feels. Once made, this work was never the same, a pained moment of beauty grounded in inevitable loss.
This work has taken many forms since, and yet none of them are at all, like the first.
She now awaits her next…
